Welcome!
I’m Brandi.
artist-teacher
a multi-passionate
Like you, I’m equal parts musician and music teacher. And in true multi-passionate fashion, you can find me in many spaces, sharing my love of music as only I can.
You might know me as music artist BrandiLove (formerly The Girl Called Books), creating soulful music that speaks to the heart. Or perhaps you’ve discovered my K-8 music class resources in Miss Brandi’s Magic Music Room, where I help fellow educators bring music alive for their students. Many children have connected with my creative arts platform Miss Brandi Loves You, which includes children’s songs and books that spark joy and imagination.
For years, I lived with the tension between these identities—feeling like I had to choose between being a “real artist” or a “dedicated teacher.” I questioned if I could truly excel at both, often experiencing guilt when creating music (“shouldn’t I be planning lessons?”) and creative drought when focused solely on teaching.
The Birth of
Chords and Classrooms
This journey through the artist-teacher divide led me to write Chords and Classrooms: A Life Between the Lines. Drawing from spiritual wisdom, practical experience, and honest reflection, I’ve created a guidebook for those walking this same path.
The book explores how to thrive in both callings without sacrificing either—addressing the imposter syndrome, guilt, time constraints, and identity questions that arise when you live between two worlds that society often treats as separate.
Artist-Teachers
building a community of
Beyond the book, I’m building a vibrant community where we navigate these challenges together. Through workshops, speaking engagements, online gatherings, and resources, we’re creating a new narrative about what it means to honor both the artist and teacher within us.
Because I’ve discovered what I believe you’ll find too:
your artistic identity makes you a better teacher, and your teaching experience enriches your creative work.
When we embrace our whole selves—all of our passions and callings—both our art and our teaching flourish.
Connect with me.
Whether you’re just beginning to reconcile your artistic and teaching identities, or you’ve been walking this path for years, I’d love to connect. Join our community of musician-teachers who are embracing the beautiful “both/and” rather than the limiting “either/or.”
Because you don’t have to choose.
You were made for both.
